A Quote I’m Thinking About…
I got this quote from the 5-bullet Friday Newsletter by Tim Ferris. I highly encourage subscribing to it. It provides a lot of great recommendations and ideas.
“Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence”.
– Robert Frost
Book Recommendation!
The central message of “From Strength to Strength” by Arthur C. Brooks is that true life success is achievable in the later years by refocusing on these priorities and cultivating these habits. By embracing wisdom, detaching from empty pursuits, connecting with others, and seeking spiritual growth, individuals can set themselves up for increased happiness, purpose, and success as they age.
This was a quick read and gave me a lot of things to consider and implement. I want to emphasize one section of the book that was impactful. On pages 179-180, there is a section that discusses an interview Anderson Cooper did with Stephen Colbert. I may not agree with many of Stephen’s stances on a variety of issues, but as all of us should be, we need to be willing to learn from people we disagree with when that moment arises.
Stephen’s father and two brothers died in a plane crash when he was 10 years old. He had stated previously, “I love the thing I most wish had not happened”, Anderson asked him to clarify. Here comes some truth. Hold on. And consider!
“It’s a gift to exist, and with existence comes suffering, I don’t want it to have happened…but if you are grateful for your life…then you have to be grateful for all of it. You can’t pick and choose what you’re grateful for”.

What I’m Watching
Painkiller– A drama series based on the origins of America’s opioid crisis.
This was very disturbing to watch in many ways including the unwavering quest for more money without any regard for the ultimate consequences, human life. It was eye-opening to see the role marketing and salespeople played in the growth of these devastating drugs.
The causes and consequences of America’s opioid epidemic unfold in this drama following its perpetrators, victims, and investigators seeking the truth. This is a must-watch in my opinion. It will make you sad, but also it will make you think about the problem from a lot of angles.

Perspective…Truly Grateful
It’s that time of year and I found myself reflecting on how far I and Buresh Home Solutions, Inc. have come in the last four years. It started with cold showers, podcasts, trips to Florida, and reading a lot more. Then came red light therapy, meditation, and box breathing, as all of this entered my life the business began to transform.
In many areas, I started looking at things as investments instead of just costs as I had been taught by many friends and mentors. The most important investment was in people. Making these investments increases the quality of individuals joining our team. I am grateful for the team we have at Buresh Home Solutions, Inc. Look at the reviews they receive and you will see they are quality individuals.
And to my family, thanks for everything you do. Most importantly, I am grateful for our dog Zeke. Kidding! Hopefully, Jodi will appreciate this, and if not, this is a moment I will ask for forgiveness upfront. Listen to Jimmy Buffett’s new song about his dog, here. Hopefully, she smiled. 🙂
